Most of the time when someone approaches me about writing a book review, I say no. But when the requests come from people I know personally, I try my best to make it work. Over the past few months, there have been some wonderful books published, and I told these authors that I would love to publicize their books. However, the lack of time ate all my good intentions of posting reviews. And while I feel like I’m gypping these amazing authors a bit by combining their books into one post, I think this is the only way I will actually publish my thoughts!
So without further ado, here is my list of recommended reading.
Reading People
Years ago, when I was considering the idea of becoming a blogger, Anne Bogel became an instant cheerleader and inspiration. Her husband even set up my first WordPress site. Anne is an incredible writer who has a deep passion for studying personality types. Her wonderfully written book, Reading People, explores different personality types. Anne beautifully explains the importance of knowing your personality and how understanding the personality of those around you strengthens your relationships.

Hope For the Hurting Wife
This thirty-day devotional, written by two wives who have walked through some painful moments in their marriages, is raw and real. While this devotional would be good for any wife to read, I love that it has a specific audience of women who have experienced trauma. They can offer a hurting wife comfort and encouragement in a unique way showing that God never wastes a hurt. I especially love that they point the reader to Christ and the hope that is theirs in Him and His Word.

Why I Didn’t Rebel
One of my favorite bloggers is Sheila Wray Gregoire. Sheila is a strong woman of faith who offers incredible Biblical advice on the topics of marriage and parenting. I love the encouragement Shelia gives wives, and I always pay close attention to her parenting wisdom. Recently, her twenty-two-year-old daughter, Rebecca Gregoire Lindenbach, wrote a book on why she didn’t rebel as a teenager or young adult. I loved hearing her perspective as the daughter on the receiving end of the parenting advice I often take. Reading the research she performed to support her thoughts is very interesting as well. While not a typical parenting book, it is an encouraging read and something I hope and pray will be similar to the stories of my children.
