Five years ago, we found out the gender of our fourth child by cutting into a cake! With our first two kids, the ultrasound technician told us the sex during the typical 20-week appointment. Our third child was a delivery room surprise. With our fourth, we wanted something creative that built anticipation but still told us the gender before the due date. After weeks of browsing Pinterest, we discovered the cake idea.
It was unbelievable the excitement a single cake could bring. In fact, we loved this idea so much when we found out we were expecting our fifth child; we knew we wanted to repeat this fun gender reveal.
Watching my husband try to contain his excitement, made me realize the importance of implementing creative surprises in marriage.
My friend, Sheila Gregoire, is running a fun article on her blog today: Top 10 Fun Ways to Surprise Your Husband! If you read her article, idea number five gives more detail about the creative surprise happening in the picture below.

Every day is a gift and one in which we should greatly celebrate. Surprises have a way of evoking emotions that, when we aren’t careful, daily life can bury. These emotions can often bond us closer with our husbands and breathe fresh air into our marriages. We don’t have to wait for a birthday, job change, or pregnancy to get the creative juices flowing. Let’s be wives who celebrate our husbands every day for every reason!
Be sure to check out Sheila’s article and let me know a creative way you surprised your husband!
