Father God, it is so easy to grow critical in this world and negativity can flow freely from one’s mouth. I am sorry for the times that describes me, and I know that my husband can struggle in this area too. I pray that You would convict us to live by Philippians 2:14 which says, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing.” Enable our ears be sensitive to our own complaints and help us train our hearts, thoughts, and words to be grateful rather than cynical. I pray that our attitudes would always mirror that of Jesus and not those of the Israelites who wandered through the desert for forty years (Philippians 2:7 and Numbers 21:5). May my husband and I both be above reproach in this area by choosing not to grumble no matter what our circumstances are (Philippians 2:15 and 1 Corinthians 10:10). In Your Son’s name I pray, amen.
