Welcome to Pray-Day Thursday!
This week we are praying for our husbands to be strong and courageous.
“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to he right or to the left that you may be successful wherever you go. Do no let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; mediate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” ~Joshua 1:6-9
Father God, this world can be a scary place and while my husband might not openly share his anxieties, I know he has them. Fears of failure. Fears of making a big mistake. Fears of being forgotten. And many more. Lord, You know my husband’s deepest fears. You know his rational and irrational worries, and today I pray that You would speak into those areas of his life with the same comforting charge that You spoke to Joshua many years ago. No matter what he is facing, I pray that he will be strong and very courageous so that he can lead our family to heaven. May the words found in the Bible be always at the forefront of his mind so that he will obey Your commands and trust Your character. When he walks in through the darkest valley, help him know that You are with him (Psalm 23:4). I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
