The season of Advent is upon us.
In Latin, the word Advent means “coming.” Christmas is when the Church celebrates Jesus coming to earth. And as we celebrate how he came, we also look forward to His second coming.
If I were to leave my house in Kentucky and drive thirteen hours to visit a friend in Florida, I might text her, even after only being on the road for five minutes, to tell her, “I’m coming! I’m getting closer.”
By default, if one is coming — then they are closer than they were before.
When Jesus came, he stepped down from heaven to get closer to us. I don’t know when Jesus will return, but I know we are closer to His return today than any other day in history.
He is coming, and we are getting closer to His arrival.
And so while we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus and ready ourselves for whenever His future triumphal return shall be – I also want to be intentional during this holy season to focus on my most important earthly relationship: my marriage. I want to make deliberate choices that will cause me to come closer to my husband.
That is why I created an Advent Calendar For Married Couples!
In 2013 (when I was blogging with much greater regularity), I posted my spur-of-the-moment idea of creating a marriage Advent Calendar. A Countdown to Christmas, so to speak, that was just for a married couple. I revamped it in 2015 to include a few more Scripture-based ideas.
This year, I’m re-posting again, only this time my calendar has had a much-needed makeover. My friend, Jo, took my content and created it into a beautiful pdf file that is easy to print! To download your copy, click here. I’ll also add it to the Freebies page on my blog.
I am praying that the Lord will use this Advent calendar to help you and Your husband grow closer to Him and each other.
