Speaker, author, and mega blogger Sheila Wray Gregoire (www.tolovehonorandvacuum.com) recently wrote a review of my book. To be honest, I’m always a little nervous when someone gives their opinions of my writing. I never intended to become an author! When listing my personal strengths, grammar and sentence structure wouldn’t even make the cut; so when a review is posted by an actual author I hold my breath expecting the worst. With this particular write up, I was humbled to say the least. Clearly, this can only be the work of the Lord. Only He could take words written on a page and make them applicable to the reader. His plans for the book truly surprise me! In her review, Sheila spoke positively about the book as a whole. She said that she could relate to me (which is truly an answer to prayer because I have been told by others that they can’t relate… which hurt) and she made reference to specific points which stood out to her. She closes her review with this,
If we women honestly worked through this book on a weekly basis, and prayed those prayers and took those challenges to heart, our marriages would be transformed. Our hearts would be transformed. And we would feel much closer to God.
That sentence, in and of itself, proves to me that the Lord has His hand on this book. Whatever impact it makes will only be because of Him. I’m thankful to have been the vessel, but the outcome has nothing to do with me! For the Love of Our Husbands (the book and the blog/ministry that go along with it) is an area of my life where I’m constantly wondering if I’m truly right for this calling. With those insecurities present – it is a blessing to receive the occasional affirmation.

While I totally get your insecurities (I would probably have some of the same), isn’t it neat to see God’s hand in this? I think God loves to surprise us. I mena, He took a bunch of non-religious, average men and told them that together they would change the world. One of the ways the Gospel is amazing to me is that it survived against seemingly insurmountable odds. Who woulda thunk that such a motley crew as the desciples could ever agree on anything, much less agree on something that they would be willing to sacrifice their lives for?
